Stone-in-Oxney is a small fairly scattered village which occupies a commanding position on the east side of the Isle of Oxney, off the B2082. Its boundaries lie within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The square tower of St Mary’s, the 15th century church can be seen as you approach the village from the Appledore direction. From the southern end of the church there are wonderful views of Romney Marsh. The church has a Mithraic altar stone. It is possible to make out the outline of a bull an important emblem of the Mithraic cult practised by many Roman soldiers. There is evidence to suggest the stone may have come from Stutfall Castle near Lympne, which was a Roman garrison.
Located in Rye in the East Sussex region, 95 Udimore Road has a terrace.
